Priority Classification for Class 1 Admission in KV School 2025-26: For the academic year 2025–2026, the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan headquarters has released new, streamlined admissions guidelines for all 1,240 KV schools spread across India.
Major Classification in KVS for Admission Purposes
Employees of the Central Government: A regular employee is someone who works in a substantive capacity in a post approved by the government and is paid by the Consolidated Fund of India. Members of the All India Services, including the IAS, IPS, and IFoS, are also included in this group.
State Government Employees: A regular employee is a person who works in a substantive capacity in a post approved by the State Government and is paid by the State’s Consolidated Fund.
Transfer Cases within State or India: A worker is only deemed transferred if they have been formally moved by the appropriate authority from one area or metropolitan area to another, a minimum of 20 kilometers away, and they have been a resident of the new location for at least six months.
Public Sector Undertakings and Autonomous Bodies: Depending on whether they are affiliated with the State or the Center, organizations that receive all of their funding from the government, or in which the government owns a majority stake (50 percent or more), are defined as either Public Sector Undertakings or Autonomous Bodies. Kendriya Vidyalaya that is supported administratively and financially by a Public Sector Undertaking, Government Project, or Institute of Higher Learning is known as Project IHL KV.
KV under the Civil and Defence Sector
The following order of priorities will be adhered to when granting admissions to Kendriya Vidyalayas under the Civil/Defence Sector:
- Children of both transferable and non-transferable Central Government employees, as well as children of ex-servicemen.
- Children of transferable and non-transferable employees of Autonomous Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings, and Institutes of Higher Learning affiliated with the Government of India.
- Children of transferable and non-transferable employees of State Government entities.
- Children of transferable and non-transferable employees of Autonomous Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings, and Institutes of Higher Learning associated with State Governments.
- Children belonging to any other category, specifically those not included in the aforementioned categories 1 to 4.
Please note that admission preference for wards will be determined by the number of transfers experienced by the parents over the past seven years.
KV under the Project Sector and Institutes of Higher Learning
Admission is open to academic members and postgraduate students working on long-term research projects, as well as the children of staff members connected to the Project Sector or Institutes of Higher Learning that support the Vidyalaya. The offspring of retired employees, permanent Council of Wardens (COW) personnel, those on deputation to the appropriate Project/IHL, and directly employed contractual staff are also included in this. It’s crucial to remember that contractual employees working for agencies, outsourcing companies, or other third parties won’t be given any special treatment throughout the admissions process.
- It is essential to highlight that priority in admission will be accorded to the children of serving employees, employees on deputation, retired employees, and directly hired contractual employees by the Project/IHL, in that specific order.
- Additionally, children of both transferable and non-transferable Central Government Employees, as well as children of ex-servicemen, are included in the admission criteria.
- Furthermore, children of transferable and non-transferable employees from Autonomous Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings, and Institutes of Higher Learning under the Government of India are also eligible.
- Children of transferable and non-transferable State Government Employees, along with those from Autonomous Bodies, Public Sector Undertakings, and Institutes of Higher Learning of State Governments, are similarly considered.
- Lastly, children from any other category, specifically those not encompassed by the aforementioned categories 1 to 5, will also be eligible for admission.
- It is noteworthy that preference in admission for wards will be determined by the number of transfers their parents have undergone in the past seven years.
