2025 List of Best IIT Colleges in India: The Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) are a network of engineering and technology schools in India. They were established in 1950 and are governed by the Institutes of Technology Act of 1961. The Ministry of Education of the Indian Government is in charge of overseeing them. The Act creates the responsibility, jurisdiction, and governance structure of these top technological institutes in the country and names them Institutes of National Importance.
At the moment, 23 IITs are covered by this act. The IIT Council, a unified council that manages the administration of all IITs, links them together while allowing each to function independently. The Indian Minister of Education serves as the IIT Council’s ex officio chairperson. Based on information gathered from Right to Information (RTI) applications, over 38% of 2024 Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) graduates have not found employment.
